A Car For a Finger

Man from the south is a very creative and original short story, it is written
Roald Dahl. This amazing short story is about a man who was in an hotel and he knew a guy. The man was very gentle so they started talking, they were talking so long and so placid that they have an idea, they make a bet. They bet that the guy can light 10 times his american lighter in a row. If he win he will receive a car but if he loss the man will cut his pinky finger off. The bet was ready the guy lights his lighter successfully but before he got to 10 times in a row  The mans wife appeared and cancelled the bet. She said that that he was in mental state and that he has loss 11 cars and win 47 fingers, and that the car he was beating was of her own.

"It was a fine garden with lawns and beds of azaleas and tall coconut palms, the wind was blowing strongly through the tops of palm trees making the leaves hiss and crackle as thought they were on fire". You can use your senses and imagine a good environment for the story, You can feel and live the story. With the descriptions you can understand better and imagine better the story.

"We are only having a little bet" This mental state character has lost a lot of things almost everything by betting his Cars by fingers. This character put the emotion and the mystery in the story. Roald like to put his violent touch in the story and he does it perfectly with this characters. The caught the readers attention and yow want to keep reading to know what is going to happen or what is he going to do now.

I really like this story it shows you characteristics of people at betting. It shows you and teaches you that you don't need to trust anyone at without knowing them and you need to be careful with what you bet. If you bet you can lost all you have with no rights or excuses. Bets can help you or they can destroy your life. You need to be careful with your actions, betting  and trust.

The ugly truth

The Ugly Truth

It was a really nice time of the year. The holidays was near, all the people in the society leave the work and the school because the only importance was the jobs that in some way helps, not academic. Jonas was curious about the realized so he ask the giver if he thinks in realized. The Giver told him about Rosemary, she was a receiver of memories. She leave because the giver transmitted her a memory  of a child being taken away from his parents. She escaped and no one knew anything about her.Jonas wants to see the realized of to new born babies, they were twins. He saw something that he would never expected.... he saw his father injecting a baby because he was very small and the baby dies. He realized that even thought they killed old mans when they were going to be realized. He was freaked  out and he imagine how will Fiona  react. So he talk with the Giver, the plan was to escape from the society and transmitted the memories to the society. He escapes to keep Gabe safe.

"The worst part of holding the memories is not the pain. Its the loneliness of it. memories need to be shared"

When I read this quote i really start thinking like the memories are very important in humans life. If you are the only one that has a memory its good but its better to have a memory with someone and better if it is special or meaningful  to you.

I want to know what is going to happend next with Jonas escape, what is he going to do with Gabe where is he going etc

Jonas Learn the pain

Jonas Learn The Pain
Our friend Jonas continue with his job as the reciever. When he was in his job he start seeing all the colors. he hangs out with his friend Asher they found a flower. jonas asks if he sees something different in the flower but he didn't. he thoughts that Jonas was crazy. After the Giver gaves him a memory of an elephant that has been poached. He asks his sister if they were elephants in the society and says he was crazy. The next day he went to the office and the giver gaves him a memory of his in the sled again. But this time Jonas felt down and he start bleeding, and vomiting. The pain in the memory was so real that he can feel it in real life. Then the giver takes him to a like to calm his down. Jonas nodded that Gabriel cant sleep so he asks his fathers if Gabriel can sleep with him, so he sleep with Gabriel and transmited him some memories to sleep. Jonas helps him to sleep, when they thought it was imposible. Then the comitee remember that some twins are coming and they say that if they realised one it dosent matter because they are equal. Jonas start feeling dissapointed because he satart knowing more things that people don't know about the comitee. After he goes back to the office and he saws the giver sufgering. He tries to help him, he dosent know what to do so he puts his hand and he recieve the memory he was sufrering it was about a warfare and everyone was dieying, the reciever was important because he transmited memories of the past that really affect the society. They hace the idea that no one should suffer so in the society they dont have pets because when the pet dies is going to make the owner feel pain or suffer.

image of the eye represents how the people in Jonas society sees, and why does Jonas feel different because he sees in colors.

"Life here is so orderly , so predictable- so painless"
This quote  really caught my attention. I know its not nice to suffer, but with the suffer experiences you enjoy the good ones more. Pain or suffer its a feeling or a emotion that everyone need to feel like or not. That helps the human to do better things and dont repeat the same mistakes.it helps people to reflect their acts.

I really enjoy this book i can say proudly that is one of my favorites books that i read in all my life. This book really caught my attention i enjoy the character setting, i cant wait to continue i really want to know what is Jonas going to experience as the receiver of memories and what he is going to rlearn from the giver  and i like that the the giever favorite memory is Christmas because i think that Christmas is time to be with family and friends and is sipomething that happend in rn real life.

Jonas reciever experience

Jonas Reciever Experience

Jonas has experienced a lot of new experiences in his new work. He was selected as the Reciever of memories. His first job was to learn about the rules that the reciever might accomplished, when he learn the rules they introduced him in his new office. His office was near the house of the old. When he was sleeping the Giver gaves him a dream that he was in a sled going down a hill, ofcourse with snow. When Jonas get home he remembered that one rule that the Giver gaves him was to lie. he was with his family, and he uses his first lie when he was in the dreams rituals. They asked him what does he dream and he says he does not dream. Then he wents with Fiona to the House of the old and he nodded something diffrent in his hair bout it was not the the form or the lenght. He the giver what it could be..... And the giver says that he would learn to see color like red.... Amd he has not idea how red was like.

"Im right then" The Giver said. "You are beggining to see the color red"
"The what?"

With this quote we can infer that Jonas society dont see in colors. I cant imagine how they can see it would bee ugly to see and dont diffrent colors. I can infer that the pills Jona society take can affect their vision but im not sure. After all i think that that Jonas society is getting used because they saw that colors while they born.

I want to keep reading this book because im getting excited and curious of what is gonna happend next. I want to know what Jonas is going to do next. Is he going to share his knew experience with his society and family. I really want to know what is going to happend next.

This picture represent the colors like red, yellow and orange some of the colors that Jonas society cant see.  Because their vision problems.

Chapter 5-8 Jonas Life

In chapter #5 something rare happens to our friend Jonas. He has a puberty dream and he told his fathers in the dreams rituals, his fathers told him that he need to start taking some pills. He felt excited because his friends take does pills to. Chapter#6  When I read this chapter, I realized that it was about the desperation of a a little kid called Caleb, it was very rare because in that city it was very "safe" In chapter #7 In chapter this chapter Jonas was finally in the ceremony of 12. He was #19 but when it was his turn, they skip it. He felt scared and confused, but he don't know he is going to be the next receiver. In chapter #8 they told Jonas that he was going to be the receiver and he is gonna feel physical punishment to be a good reciever, he is going to have a training in wich punishment affect.

While i was readin this quote calles my attention."loss of a child was very rare" when I read this quote i realize that it was a very safe place. But i got confused and i start thinking how this little baby get lost. Where does the little Caleb goes and why the camaras dont show. i never thought that near that near Jonas society there were a river.  I cant imagine how painful can be to a family loss a son.

This chapters were great and entertrain and we can learn that Jonas comunity its perfeccionist and that they like to be perfect and a safe. But they have a lot of rules.

Chapter 1-4

 .
In the chapter #1 it was about a kid called Jonas and his best friend in a perfect world , an airplane fly very close to the city the population  get scared and everyone go to their house, Asher get late to class and their classmates acts like robots when they accept their apologize. Chapter #2 In this chapter Jonas was getting nervous because he was near the ceremony of 12 because when he do the ceremony he will stop being a kid and his volunteer ours will depend on what he will or work when he grows up. Chapter #3 In this chapter Jonas father takes Gabriel to the house and he has the same eyes as Jonas and Lily says some indifference and Jonas get mad, then he went to Asher to play and he found an apple and he stole it but it was illegal to stole the apples. In the chapter #4 Jonas went to the com unity service to the house of old and hi find his best friend Asher, working with Fiona the girl he likes. After helping the old people he start talking with Larissa about Roberto's perfect life. The meaning of someone in this book was based in your job.

Text Response:
"Almost every citizen in the community had dark eyes, his parents did, and lily, and so did all of his group members and friends. But there were a few exceptions. No one mentioned such thin, it was not a rule, but was considered rude to call attention to things that were unsettling or different about individual"

I think that the author uses this structure in a indirect way to tell that in Jonas society they want all to be similar and that they don't like differences. They thing that its not a rule but its just how it has to be.I do not like his society because i think that differences and  can make the difference and a better world.

Final Comment

I like this book because i like how it is write i mean the structure and all the language. I would like to keep reading and KEEP reading because i like Dystopia and Utopia and this book caught my attention a lot. I want to know what Jonas and Asher would do next
